Understanding your Support at Home (SAH) Packages

EIGHT LEVELS OF SUPPORT TO HELP YOU LIVE SAFELY AND INDEPENDENTLY AT HOME

Support at Home (SAH) is the new system that will eventually replace Home Care Packages (HCP). While HCP currently includes four levels, SAH expands this into eight levels to better match the amount and type of support you may need.

Each level provides a different amount of help – from light assistance around the home to ongoing clinical and specialist care.

Explore all eight SAH levels below to understand what each one includes.

Support at Home

What are Home Care Packages?

A Home Care Package (HCP) is a government-funded aged care program designed to help older Australians continue living at home. It gives you access to a wide range of in-home care services, including:

  • Everyday support such as cleaning, shopping, and meal preparation
  • Help to keep you safe and mobile
  • Health management including nursing and allied health
  • Social support, transport, and community participation

At Pinq Care, we go beyond standard service delivery. Our Wellness Memberships (backlink:/memberships): Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, allow you to tailor your support and focus on staying stronger, safer, and more independent for longer. We combine multidisciplinary aged care with preventative, reablement-focused support so you get more from your funding.

Home Care Packages Are Now Known as Support at Home

From 1 November 2025, the Home Care Package program will officially become the Support at Home program.. This new model offers more flexibility, clearer service options, and a stronger focus on helping older Australians stay living at home longer.

Home Care Packages and Support at Home levels provide similar services, but the new system will make it easier to access the right support when you need it.

The Transition from Home Care Packages to Support At Home Explained

Looking Ahead: The Support at Home Program

The Australian Government is replacing the Home Care Package program with the Support at Home program; a more flexible, person-centred aged care system.

What This Means for You

The government has introduced a “no worse off” guarantee, ensuring your funding and services remain stable throughout the transition. Pinq Care will:

  • Confirm your eligibility
  • Assist with your My Aged Care assessment
  • Explain your Support at Home funding and service options
  • Co-design a plan focused on independence, strength, and wellbeing
  • Adapt your support as your needs change
  • Ensure your services start smoothly and without delay

With Pinq Care, the shift to Support at Home is simple, respectful, and centred entirely around your goals.

Navigating aged care can feel overwhelming, especially with the transition from Home Care Packages to the new Support at Home program. At Pinq Care, we make the process easier by offering clear guidance, personalised aged care support, and practical help to ensure you receive the right services at the right time. Whether you need help with daily tasks, mobility, allied health, nursing, or staying connected socially, our team ensures your funding is used effectively so you get the most value from your package.

Our approach focuses on independence, capability building, and proactive support. We work with you to understand your goals, identify the services that will make the biggest difference, and ensure your package level; whether under the old HCP system or the new Support at Home framework; is optimised to keep you living at home longer. With access to physiotherapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, speech pathology, nursing, domestic assistance, and social support, you receive care that adapts with your needs and supports your lifestyle.

Pinq Care also offers Memberships, a unique and flexible way to enhance your independence with tailored allied health and wellbeing support. These memberships allow you to combine clinical care, strength and mobility programs, daily living support, and personalised planning to maintain your strength, safety, and confidence at home. As the Support at Home program rolls out across Australia, Pinq Care will continue providing expert guidance, simplified processes, and a team dedicated to keeping you informed and supported, today and into the future.
